The Health Ministry on Thursday reported 71 new positive cases of coronavirus following 16,233 diagnostic tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

The ministry reported that two positive cases arrived from abroad and 24 were contact cases that were under surveillance for being in close contact with other positive cases.

45 cases were locally transmitted.

16 of the cases are from the Lefkoşa District, 11 from the Girne District, 13 from the Gazimağusa District, one from the Güzelyurt District, three from the İskele District and one from the Lefke District.

While one person died from the virus 87 people have recovered and have been sent home.

145 positive cases and two deaths were also reported in South Cyprus on Thursday.

Also the Health Ministry urges anyone who has come into contact with persons who have tested positive for Covid-19 or those who display symptoms of the virus such as fever, coughing and fatigue or loss of smell or taste to contact the Health Ministry Contact Tracing Team.
