Amcaoğlu completes contacts in Ankara

The Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu returned to the TRNC on Wednesday evening after completing a two-day visit to Ankara.

As part of his contacts in the Turkish capital, Amcaoğlu met separately with Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay, the Turkish Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Nuri Ersoy, the head of the Presidency of Turks Abroad and Related Communities Abdullah Eren and the head of the Turkish Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr Erol Özvar.

Evaluating his contacts to BRT, Amcaoğlu said that he had found the opportunity to discuss with the head of the Turkish Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr Erol Özvar on what needs to be done to start face-to-face education at universities on October 1.

“We produced a number of decisions to raise both the number of students in the TRNC and the quality of the education provided by our institutions of higher education,” he said.

Regarding his meeting with the Turkish Minister of Education Mahmut Özer, the TRNC education minister said that their discussions had focused on the possible problems that might arise in the 2021-2022 school year.

He added that the Turkish education ministry had also delivered the 1,500 tablets it had promised for students in the TRNC.

On his meeting with the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Nuri Ersoy, Amcaoğlu said that they produced a series of decisions to carry out cultural and art events not only to Turkey but to the UK and other countries.

He added that he had discussed the issue of scholarships of children studying abroad with the head of the Turkish Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr Erol Özvar.
