The documentary “Witnesses of History from the Past to the Present” was screened in Lapta on Sunday.

President Ersin Tatar who also attended the screening thanked the Lapta Culture and Solidarity Association for its contributions and emphasized the importance of protecting the Turkish Cypriot culture.

Noting that the Lapta region is one of the most distinguished towns of the TRNC with its greenery, history and culture, the President said that any contributions towards promoting Lapta is very valuable.

Explaining that through social media the documentary can become more accessible and therefore Lapta can be promoted around the world, President Tatar said that such cultural productions significantly contribute to the struggle of Turkish Cypriots to exist on these lands.

Tatar also expressed his belief that Turkish Cypriots by protecting their culture and solidarity will be able to make the world accept the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Touching upon the importance of protecting cultural assets and the environment, President Tatar also drew attention to the important mission taken on by civil society organisations and praised their efforts.
