Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Energy Erhan Arıklı said that they aim to transform the Mesarya Plain into a wetland and render it suitable for agricultural use.

Minister Arıklı who received officials from the Anamur Chamber of Trade and Industry said that they were putting efforts into creating a society in the TRNC that could sell what they produce and reminded that they had signed a trade agreement protocol with the Republic of Turkey for this purpose.

Arıklı said that crops to be produced in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus can be marketed to the world via Turkey, “This way we can break through the embargoes that have been enforced against the TRNC for years” he said.

Referring to the Industrial Organized Zone to be constructed in the Güvercinlik area, Minister Arıklı said that the zone will entail 174 small scale industry establishments and that the structure will completely be for exporting purposes.
