President Ersin Tatar on Tuesday welcomed the interest shown by the Turkish youth towards the national cause.
He was speaking during a visit paid to him by members of the Young Diplomats Academy from Turkey.
Expressing his happiness from seeing delegations from Turkey visiting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Tatar underlined the strong historical bond that existed between Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot people.
Reminding that Turkish Cypriots had achieved their freedom and independence with the 1974 Turkish Peace Operation, President Tatar underlined the importance of the strengthening of Turkey’s status in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Blue Homeland with the hydrocarbons of the region.
The General Secretary of the Divan Research and Education Society Sinan Çelikol for his part briefed the president on the activities and work carried out by the academy.
The academy consists of a series of lessons and lectures aimed at 18-30-year-old students who plan to study diplomacy and politics with the intention to work in these fields in the future.
