“It is important that we further develop and expand economic, social and cultural ties between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Gaziantep,” President Ersin Tatar told reporters after meeting with the governor of Gaziantep Davut Gül.
Pointing out that a special bond existed between the TRNC and Gaziantep, Tatar said that there were many people from the area who settled or set up businesses in the TRNC after 1974.
“There is much which can be done in terms of strengthening economic ties, the TRNC’s infrastructure and commerce,” he added, expressing the hope that important steps will be taken in this direction.
President Ersin Tatar who signed the governorship’s special book later met with the Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Fatma Şahin.
Messages of unity and solidarity were exchanged during the meeting.
Tatar is being accompanied by the Chairman of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce Turgay Deniz and General Secretary Aysun Önel İleri.
