Within the framework of the 38th anniversary of the TRNC and exhibition titled the Turkish-Islamic History of Science in 100 Objects was inaugurated.
Delivering the opening speech at the event held at the historical Bedesten, the General Director of the Vakıflar Administration Ibrahim Benter said that 2200 foundations have been established in Cyprus and have been serving humanity without discrimination against any person, religion, language or race for over 450 years.
Noting that this exhibition is the most comprehensive exhibition in the Turkish Cypriot peoples’ history, Benter noted that the exhibits are completely science themed.
Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay also said a few words at the opening of the exhibition.
Stating that for 450 years Turks have had foundation in Cyprus, Oktay said “everyone should realize who the real owners are and who the minority on this island is”.
Referring to the Organisations of the Turkish States Summit that was held in Istanbul, Oktay said that a mutual agreement had been reached for cooperation in the field of innovation adding that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will be included in this roadmap.
President Ersin Tatar for his part stated that the pioneering role of our Turkish ancestors in science was once again confirmed with this exhibition adding that by knowing the history well, their goal is to pave the way for the youth.
