An Inauguration, Promotion and Ground Breaking Ceremony were realized in Girne on Monday.
The ceremony was attended by President Ersin Tatar, Turkish Vice-President Fuat Oktay and Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu.
The foundation for the new military hospital of the Turkish Defence Ministry was laid, some roads were inaugurated and health investments being made at the Dipkarpaz Health Centre and the 500-bed capacity hospital to be built in Lefkoşa were promoted.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu touched upon the investments being made in the TRNC.
“The 100 bed capacity new Military Hospital will be financed by Ankara within the framework of the 2021 Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement signed between Turkey and the TRNC on the 3rd of March 2021. The 500-bed capacity State Hospital will be built in Lefkoşa on land that is located on the northern frontier of Bayrak Radio Television Corporation” Sucuoğlu explained.
Referring to Turkey’s contributions to the TRNC’s infrastructure, he noted that a 190km dual carriageway, a 382km one-way road and many more roads were built with the 1.9 billion TL finance provided by Turkey.
Sucuoğlu also provided information about infrastructure work being carried out at the East and West village roads.
He added that all investments, roads, hospitals and investments such as the Presidential Complex were being made to provide a better future and service for the Turkish Cypriot people.
Turkish Vice-President Oktay for his part said that the new Military Hospital, the 500-bed capacity Lefkoşa State Hospital, the new Presidential Complex and Parliament Building and modern highway projects are proceeding step by step.
“We will continue our support and cooperation in the field of health. The new Military Hospital with its high technology medical equipment and treatment units will be one of the best health care centres in the region” he added.
Explaining that work is continuing on transportation and infrastructure and on the e-state, Oktay said “I believe wholeheartedly that a solid infrastructure and more developments are possible in the TRNC, as long as we work with determination. Turkey-TRNC relations are above all kinds of local political polemics.”
President Tatar for his part said that they were working with Turkey to further develop the TRNC’s infrastructure and economy.
Expressing the belief that production will increase in the country when the water supplied from Turkey will also be used in agricultural activities, he noted the health investments were especially important for the general health system.
Touching upon the new Presidential Complex and Parliament Building to be built in the TRNC, he stressed that these buildings which were deemed worthy for the Turkish Cypriot people by Turkey are a sign of the TRNC state sovereignty.
