Visiting Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay gave important messages to the world during his speech at the 38th anniversary celebrations of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Addressing the people at the parade that was realised at the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard, Turkish Vice President Oktay said that the date November the 15th is a glorious day adding to the history of the struggle waged by the Turkish Cypriot people.
He said that the TRNC was established 38 years ago with the mutual agreement of all parties in parliament and with the support of all of the Turkish Cypriot people.
“You are celebrating the 38th anniversary of the establishment of the TRNC with much pride. You are sharing this joy with us. We sincerely believe that the sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot state, which is the guarantee of the indispensable rights of the Turkish Cypriots on the island, will be permanent” said Oktay.
Referring to the developments taking place in the Eastern Mediterranean Oktay reminded that the Greek Cypriot side has announced its intention to begin unilateral drilling in the area.
“Have no fear we won’t let them be, we too will continue where we left off with our drilling efforts. Those who are looking for adventures in the Eastern Mediterranean will receive their just deserves” said Oktay.
Noting that Turkey wants a just, permanent and sustainable solution to be found to the Cyprus problem, Oktay added that the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people must be registered and guaranteed.
“Otherwise, the conditions that will pave the way for a solution will never be possible” said Oktay.
He also emphasized that Turkey’s support to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will continue.
