Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu said the main problem experienced in the country was the economy and unemployment.

Making evaluations to the TAK News Agency on various issues, the premier stated that the Turkish Cypriot people and the TRNC had been experiencing the disadvantages of non-recognition, and the time had come to experience the advantages of this situation.

Noting that there were countries such as Singapore and Taiwan which have high income and welfare levels despite their non-recognition, Sucuoğlu said Cyprus’s biggest advantage is its nature and geographical position.

“We need to benefit from these advantages. We should be an investor friendly country” he added.

Explaining that he had the chance to chat with Turkish Vice-President Fuat Oktay during the 15th of November Republic Day ceremony, the Premier said Oktay expressed his desire for the implementation of projects and protocols so that the TRNC economy can support itself.

Announcing that he will be visiting Ankara soon, Sucuoğlu said all these issues will be evaluated in detail during this visit.

Evaluating the increase in the number of covid-19 cases in the country, he referred to the importance of vaccinations.

Underlining the importance of learning to live with the virus, the Premier said a lockdown or giving up face to face education was not on the agenda.

Sucuoğlu also called on the people to get vaccinated, wear their masks and follow social distancing rules.
