CHP delegation met with political party leaders

Turkey’s main opposition the Republican People’s Party (CHP) delegation came together with political party leaders as part of their contacts in the TRNC.

The importance of contacts between the municipalities of the two countries was stressed during the meetings.

Speaking during his meeting with the CHP Metropolitan Mayors, the leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Tufan Erhürman referred to the importance of the contacts to be established with metropolitan municipalities in Turkey.

The leader of the People’s Party (HP) Kudret Özersay for his part touched upon the problems being experienced in the country due to the currency crisis and structural problems and referred to the serious financial problems experienced by the municipalities in the country.

The Social Democratic Party (TDP) leader Cemal Özyiğit said they are very proud that many metropolitan mayors in Turkey are from the Republican People’s Party.

Also receiving the CHP delegation, the leader of the Democrat Party (DP), Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu called on the mayors to give room to the TRNC in their activities with the aim of promoting the country in Turkish cities.

The leader of the Rebirth Party (YDP) Erhan Arıklı for his part referred to the serious problems experienced at the local administrations in the TRNC and added that the necessary reforms for local administrations could not be achieved in the country.

Also speaking during the visits, the Deputy Chairman of the CHP Ordu MP Seyit Torun said they aimed to increase cooperation between the municipalities of the two countries.
