The Health Ministry on Thursday reported 297 new positive cases of coronavirus following 16,228 diagnostic tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

According to the Health Ministry, two people arrived from abroad, 62 people were under observation for coming into contact with previous Covid-19 cases, while 233 positive cases were locally transmitted.

100 of the cases are from the Lefkoşa District, 71 from the Girne District, 34 from the Gazimağusa District, 12 from the Güzelyurt District, 15 from the İskele District and one from the Lefke District.

While 2 people died from the virus 197 people recovered and were sent home.

Meanwhile, South Cyprus reported 489 new cases on Thursday.

Also, the Health Ministry urges anyone who has come into contact with persons who have tested positive for Covid-19 or those who display symptoms of the virus such as fever, coughing and fatigue or loss of smell or taste to contact the Health Ministry Contact Tracing Team.
