President Ersin Tatar said that the problems that have emerged from the pandemic are only temporary and what is important was to preserve the TRNC.
“The important thing is the state, our existence and continuing our
political struggle in the best possible manner” said Tatar.
The President made the statement while he received the head of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Elazığ Culture and Solidarity Association Yunus Ataş and his accompanying delegation.
Speaking during the visit the president emphasized the importance of motherland Turkey for the TRNC and reminded that the graves of the medical officer Nihat İlhan’s three children and wife who were martyred during the bloody Christmas attacks in Cyprus are located in Elazığ, Turkey. Pointing to the importance of the work being carried out to further strengthen the TRNC, Tatar reiterated that problems that have emerged due to the pandemic are temporary and what’s important is the state.
“We have a state here and citizens who trust their state. Our stance here has been strengthened in connection with the motherland Turkey’s guarantees on the island and the strategic events unfolding in the Eastern Mediterranean” said Tatar.
“The steps taken to strengthen the political, economic, cultural and social ties between us and the Republic of Turkey serves to draw us closer and enables us to look to the future with hope” he added.
