President Tatar stated that motherland Turkey and the Turkic states are of great importance for the Turkish Cypriot people and emphasized that the greatest goal is to look to the future with hope in an independent state.

The president made the statement during celebrations in the İskele region held to mark the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence.

In his speech President Tatar expressed his happiness to be together with his Kazakhstani brothers living in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

“The thing that binds us is our Turkishness. Motherland Turkey and the Turkic states are of great importance for us. As Turkish Cypriots, we are representatives of the Turkish world in the Eastern Mediterranean” said Tatar.

Noting that years ago the Turkish Cypriot people had waged a great struggle against the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo, Tatar said that it was his greatest desire to be able to live in the TRNC in an independent state and to look to the future with hope.

He also emphasized that it was their duty to further the brotherhood between Kazakhstan and the TRNC and to explain to the people of Kazakhstan the struggle waged by the Turkish Cypriot people.
