The state run Turkish News Agency (TAK) is celebrating its 48th anniversary of its establishment.
Issuing a written statement, TAK Director Fehmi Gürdallı said that they were celebrating the establishment of the agency with pride.
Noting that although it had become easier to access information as a result of social media, advancements in technology and the internet, Gürdallı said it had become harder to access accurate news because of information pollution.
Stressing that the TAK news agency was the main provider of news for the Turkish Cypriot press, the TAK director said it was of vital importance to report accurately and objectively as well as to share it with the public swiftly.
Meanwhile, in line with the celebrations Gürdallı and the Board of Directors of TAK paid a visit to President Ersin Tatar and Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri on Monday.
Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu sent a message to the TAK Director Gürdallı.
Praising the agency’s work in his message, the premier said “TAK with over 50 years of experience and knowledge is fulfilling its duty of informing the public with fast and accurate news in the best way.”
Meanwhile, the TAK Board of Directors laid wreaths in front of the Atatürk Monument in Lefkoşa, the Mausoleums of the late Turkish Cypriot leader for Struggle Dr Fazıl Küçük and the late founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Rauf Raif Denktaş.
