According to the Health Ministry the two individuals have not recently traveled abroad.

The statement noted that the two individuals are now under observation in quarantine and that the contact tracing team was identifying their contacts.

The health ministry also drew attention to the importance of Covid-19 booster shots for protection against the Omicron variant and called on unvaccinated individuals to get their jabs as soon as possible.

“After detecting the Omicron variant in our country, we remind our citizens that following mask, social distancing and hygiene rules and getting vaccinated are the most important means of fighting against Covid-19,” the Health Ministry statement said.
