The voice of the Turkish Cypriot people, Bayrak Radio Television Corporation, is celebrating its 58th anniversary of establishment.
The BRTK 58th Year Anniversary Exhibition was inaugurated by President Ersin Tatar at the Rüstem Bookshop’s Main Gallery last night.
Delivering an opening speech President Ersin Tatar stated that Bayrak Radio Television Corporation has accomplished many things in 58 years and said, “If broadcasting has developed in this country to a level where our voice reaches all corners of the world, it was because of BRT which started its first broadcasts 58 years ago with the slogan Bayrak, Bayrak, Bayrak”.
Noting that this exhibition showcases the materials used by those who created something out of nothing during the years of struggle, the President thanked BRTK Director Meryem Özkurt and everyone who contributed.
Curator and Artist Ayhatun Ateşin also said a few words during the opening ceremony.
She said that all the works on display are made by materials used by Bayrak Radio Television Corporation since its establishment.
BRTK Director Meryem Özkurt for her part said that everything has a story and that the story of the BRT and Bayrak began 58 years ago.
“Here the story of BRT is actually illustrated. After this exhibition ends, it will be moved to BRT and be included in the museum at the premises and nothing will be lost.”
The exhibition prepared by Ayhatun Ateşin, Eser Keçeci Malyalı and Ruhiye Onurel will be open to visits at the Rustem Bookshop until the 20th of January.
