Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu said that he will be carrying out an official visit to the Turkish capital Ankara in the coming days.

Speaking on BRT on Thursday morning, the prime minister said his contacts will be focused on assessing the current situation in the TRNC.

Underlining the importance of creating a Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) that can stand on its own feet, Sucuoğlu said that actions will speak not words when it comes to the economy.

“We have seen a 16 per cent recession in the economy. I spoke with the Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay on the phone and I will be visiting him in Ankara in the coming days. The main item on the agenda will be the economy,” he said.

Prime Minister Sucuoğlu also said that the government’s priority after the January 23 elections will be to get the economy back on track.

He said that a number of steps will be taken to attract investors and enable the flow of hot cash into the country’s economy.

“We are currently preparing the ground work and following the elections we will see foreign investors, sales of properties and steps taken to create a free zone,” Sucuoğlu added.

Also touching upon the issue of health, the Prime Minister urged the public to get vaccinated or to get their booster jabs, reminding that getting vaccinated was the best line of defence against Covid-19.
