President Ersin Tatar on Friday drew attention to the unbreakable bond that exists between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Addressing the “New World Order Summit” organised by the Turkish Commerce and Economy Club, President Tatar said that economies very much depended on confidence and stability.
He said that interference by foreign actors should not be allowed to disrupt the economy, expressing full confidence that the latest economic model being implemented by the Turkish government will restore the value of the Turkish Lira against foreign currencies.
Pointing out that the lira was the main currency used in the TRNC; Tatar said it was out of the question to switch to the Euro in the country due to the unique relationship that exists between their respective countries.
Also touching upon the Cyprus Issue, the president repeated that Turkey fully supported the Turkish Cypriot side’s two-state solution.
He reminded that the TRNC acted together with Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean as part of the Blue Homeland doctrine.
Regarding economic relations between the two countries, Tatar said that they expected more tourists and students from Turkey.
Also delivering a speech at the opening of the summit, TRNC Minister of Economy and Energy Sunat Atun said that the world had become a global village and that economic crisis in other parts of the world affected all countries.
He also praised the latest economic model announced by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Earlier on Thursday, Minister Atun had met with the Turkish Commerce Minister Mehmet Muş.
The two discussed how to speed up the process to switching to the Turkish Lira in trade and commerce between their respective countries.
Atun also met with the head of the Turkish Central Bank Şahap Kavcıoğlu.
