The Higher Electoral Council (YSK) has announced the final list of candidates who will be running in the January 23 elections next year.

Accordingly a total of 403 candidates from six districts will be running for the 50-seat TRNC parliament.

400 of the candidates are from the eight political parties while three are independent candidates.

The distribution of seats according to the districts is as follows: Lefkoşa 16, Gazimağusa 13, Girne 11, İskele five, Güzelyurt three and Lefke two.

The propaganda period will begin tomorrow and will end on January 22, a day before the election.

Meanwhile, the order of the political parties on ballot papers was determined on Monday.

According to the draw, the National Unity Party (UBP) is first on the ballot followed by the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), the Democrat Party (DP), the Communal Liberation Party-New Forces (TKP), the Independence Road, the Rebirth Party (YDP), the Peoples’ Party (HP) and the Social Democratic Party (TDP).
