The final list of voters eligible to vote in the upcoming election was finalized as of today, according to the election calendar announced earlier by the Higher Electoral Council.
Citizens will be heading to the ballots to determine 50 deputies to serve in the TRNC parliament on January 23.
The deadline for political parties to petition the Higher Electoral Council for propaganda on BRT has also expired.
203,183 voters were announced before the suspension. The number of voters in the 2020 Presidential elections was 198,957.
The propaganda process which began December 28 for all political parties and independent candidates will end January 22.
The number of candidates is currently 403 after two candidates withdrew from the race.
Eight of the political parties have determined a total of 400 candidates. With three independent candidates, 131 of the 403 are women.
There are currently 49 deputies in parliament following Ersin Tatar’s election as president.
Of the 49 deputies, 20 are from the National Unity Party (UBP), 12 from the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), six from the Peoples’ Party (HP), three from the Democrat Party (DP), three from the Social Democratic Party (TDP), one from the Rebirth Party (YDP) and four are independents.
40 out of the 49 deputies have been nominated for the January 23 elections.
