There will be mass screening for Covid-19 at all schools starting Thursday, Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu told BRT on Tuesday.
Drawing attention to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases at schools, Amcaoğlu said that test screenings were taking place in schools regularly.
He said that there was a growing discussion on whether or not to close schools due to the increase in case numbers.
“We are constantly talking about shutting schools but why should we when we know how important education is?” he asked.
Amcaoğlu said that the daily case numbers would not be reached if the same measures adopted at schools were adopted in other sectors.
“There is this false perception that we can overcome these problems by adopting a head in the sand policy. We will need to close all sectors if we shut down schools,” he added.
