President Ersin Tatar has called on the public to continue to adhere to Covid-19 measures, stating that there is no room for complacency.

In a written statement issued on Wednesday, Tatar underlined the importance of getting vaccinated and booster shots as well as practising social distancing, wearing face masks and applying hygiene rules.

Pointing out that the TRNC has so far managed the pandemic well as a result of regular screening tests and a successful vaccination drive; the president said that it was vital to continue to adhere to the measures in place.

He added that an increase in daily cases was being observed in the TRNC as in other parts of the world due to the Omicron variant, Tatar said that high vaccination rates and measures could keep the case numbers manageable without burdening the health system.

President Tatar also thanked the health care workers who have been working on the frontline for the past two years in the fight against Covid-19.
