The Office of the President announced on Thursday that vaccine certificates issued by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Health Ministry will be able to be used for travel purposes to the UK as of Monday, January 10, 2022.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Office of the President hailed the decision taken by the UK government to recognize the TRNC issued certificates and said it would intensify its efforts so that the certificates can also be recognized by the EU and other countries.
The statement said that the decision had been announced through the British government’s official website and that President Ersin Tatar’s office had been informed separately by the British High Commission in Cyprus.
It pointed out that TRNC citizens have been experiencing numerous difficulties in travel since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and that the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Office of the President will continue its efforts for the recognition of vaccine certificates issued by the TRNC Health Ministry by EU and third countries.
The statement also reminded that an agreement had been reached between the two leaders on June 4, 2021, to synchronize Covid-19 measures at crossing points, to reopen all crossing points and to recognize vaccine certificates issued by their respective health ministries.
