President Ersin Tatar received Muhittin Şimşek, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Ahmet Yesevi University in Kazakhstan.

Speaking during the visit President Tatar expressed his hope that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will find a place within the Organization of Turkic States.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency, Tatar stressed that as a state that has waged many struggles and given martyrs, the TRNC has an important place within the Turkic states.

President Tatar also emphasized the importance of increasing relations with Turkic states with which there are historical ties, and reiterated his wish for the TRNC to find its place within the organization.

He also informed Mr. Şimşek that there are two separate peoples in Cyprus and that it is not possible to unite under a federal roof.
