The head of the TRNC High Electoral Council Narin Ferdi Şefik announced the official results of the Early General Election that was realized on Sunday.

According to the statement made by Şefik on a live broadcast on BRT, the National Unity Party emerged as the leading party.

While the Republican Turkish Party came second, the Democrat Party, the Rebirth Party and the Peoples’ Party passed the threshold.

According to the official results announced by the head of the High Electoral Council the National Unity party won 39.61 percent of the votes.

The Republican Turkish Party won 31.91, the Democrat Party won 7.42, Rebirth Party won 6.44 and the Peoples’ Party won 6.69 percent of the votes.

The Social Democratic Party was only able to obtain 4.40 percent of the votes while the Independence Road received 1.94 and the Communal Liberation Party New Forces received 1.56 percent of the votes.

These parties were unable to surpass the 5 percent needed to pass the threshold.

According to the official results announced by Şefik the 50 seat Republic’s Assembly is distributed as follows: National Unity Party 24, Republican Turkish Party 18, Democrat Party 3, Peoples’ Party 3 and Rebirth Party 2 seats.
