Tatar met with Attorney General Altıncık

President Ersin Tatar held a short meeting with the Attorney General Sarper Altıncık on Tuesday after meeting with representatives of the political parties which won seats in the TRNC parliament.

Speaking to the press, Tatar said that he had met with party leaders and the attorney general in a bid to speed up the process of the creation of a new government in the country.

He reminded that the government which will be able to assume office after the swearing-in ceremony for MPs also required a vote-of-confidence by parliament.

Asked about the proposal to allow direct flights to Ercan in exchange for returning Maraş, President Tatar said that they ignored the reports which emerged in the Greek Cypriot press as they were important issues which concerned sovereignty.

“What the Greek Cypriot side is trying to do is to create the image that the Turkish Cypriot people are not sovereign. The reports are not convincing and naturally we have ignored them,” he added.
