Tatar gives press conference at Ercan

President Ersin Tatar returned to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus after completing his contacts in Kayseri and Ankara in Turkey and gave a press conference at Ercan Airport where he evaluated his fruitful contacts.

Noting that he had received must interest while on his visit to Turkey, Tatar said that he had the chance to explain the Cyprus issue, the latest situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the blue homeland to students at a conference he gave at Kayseri University.

Noting that he also visited the President and Members of the Kayseri Chamber of Commerce, the Kayseri Chamber of Industry and Kayseri MUSIAD, the President said that he spoke about the Cyprus issue during his visits.

Stating that he met with tradesmen and business people over the weekend, Tatar said, “These visits are of great benefit. It was my greatest wish to embrace and maintain contact with the people of the Republic of Turkey and to be able to talk about the Cyprus issue there. The flow of students, tourists and a variety of business opportunities benefit from these visits.”

Referring to his visit with Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay in Ankara, Tatar said that they discussed the Cyprus issue and topics relating to the Eastern Mediterranean and agreed that cooperation between Turkey and the TRNC would continue to increase.

President Tatar stated that he also touched upon the economic situation in the TRNC during his meeting with Oktay, and noted that the pandemic was the main cause for all the troubles in the economy.

“I also shared my views with Mr. Fuat Oktay regarding the Cyprus issue and regional developments, as well as the establishment of the new government to be formed in the TRNC. Turkey wants a government to be formed in the shortest time possible. After the swearing-in ceremony in parliament on February 7, I said I would officially assign Mr. Faiz Sucuoğlu. Our hope is to establish a stable government” said Tatar and added that a stable government is needed in order to take economic measures.
