President Ersin Tatar received the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative and the Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) Colin Stewart on Monday.
The meeting lasted about an hour.
According to a statement released by the TRNC Presidency, the Turkish Cypriot side’s solution policy based on sovereign equality and on international status which envisages the cooperation of two co-existing states was reiterated during the meeting.
The Turkish Cypriot people’s sovereign equality and equal international status will never be given up on was stressed during the meeting.
It was also stated that efforts towards finding a realistic, just and sustainable solution in Cyprus will continue on a common ground to be found within this framework.
The importance attached to the work of the Technical Committees by the Turkish Cypriot side was also underlined during the meeting.
President Ersin Tatar’s Special Representative Ergün Olgun and members of the negotiating team were also present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, Stewart held a similar meeting with the Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades earlier on Monday.
