The leader of the National Unity Party (UBP), Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu made evaluations to a newspaper regarding the process for forming a government and what kind of government they want to form.

Reminding that although he hadn’t yet officially received the mandate to set up a new government, Sucuoğlu however said that he had been making preparations and holding some informal meetings with other political parties.

Stating that they could immediately form a government with 27 MPs, Sucuoğlu however said that they wanted to establish a powerful government and that’s why they insist on 30.

“I want to establish a government with 30 MPs or if this is not possible to hold snap elections” he said.

Stating that the Rebirth Party (YDP) was not among the coalition options, the Premier reiterated that the political parties should take responsibility without considering political prosperity.

He also stressed that communal interests should be prioritized.

Making a call to the opposition, Sucuoğlu said all political parties including the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) should aim to form the best government arithmetically.

“It is not right to strategically to be a part of the government. We should establish the strongest government possible” he stressed.

“We want to form the strongest government and serve the people by taking radical decisions” he added.

Touching upon the local elections, Sucuoğlu said 28 municipalities was not sustainable.

Noting that the municipalities will work more efficiently if the local elections are held after passing the local elections reform, he said otherwise the same problems will continue.

“Local elections should be held after the number of municipalities is reduced” Sucuoğlu added.
