Well-known Businessman Halil Falyalı on Tuesday was gunned down while in his car in Girne.

Falyalı was reportedly being driven home by a chauffeur when unknown assaliant or assaliants with automatic guns attacked the vehicle he was in outside his residence in Çatalköy.

While the driver was also killed, Falyalı was taken to the Near East University Hospital after being seriously injured, where he was later pronounced dead.

His family, who were following him in a second car, were not harmed in the attack.

Police has launched a wide search for those responsible, examining security camera footage.

Security has also been tightened at Ercan Airport, ports and crossing points.
