Turkiye’s National Defence Ministry has said that the Turkish Resistance Organisation (TMT) was the manifestation of the spirit of the Turkish revolutionary organization (kuva-yi milliye).

The Turkish National Defence Ministry issued a written statement titled ‘TMT means the defence of the country’ regarding the remarks made against the TMT during a TV program in Turkiye.

“The TMT which was established with the aim of protecting the lives and property of the Turkish Cypriot property against the Greek Cypriot terrorist organisation EOKA’s felonious murders and genocide attempts is a manifestation of the Turkish revolutionary organisation which raised the resistance against the powerful nations of the world 100 years ago,” the statement said.

“It should not be forgotten that the TMT means the defence of the country. Any ignorant opinion or remark is harmful. We condemn those who hurt our brothers and sisters in Cyprus through statements which were a result of either ignorance or betrayal. We always stand by our brothers and sisters in Cyprus in their rightful case,” the statement added.

“We remember in respect the martyrs and the war veterans who sacrificed their lives for the country and flag. We also wish a healthy and happy life to the living war veterans,” the statement concluded.
