Foreign Minister Hasan Taçoy made statements on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Evaluating the issue to the TAK News Agency, Taçoy said the Russia-Ukraine war will have a negative impact on Turkiye’s and the TRNC’s economy as with other countries around the world.

Noting that Ukraine was one of the leading countries in wheat production as well as rich in oil and natural gas, he said the ongoing conflict will affect supplies leading to a rise in prices.

Stating that this conflict would not affect the TRNC politically for now, Taçoy said, “However, relations between Moscow and Ankara or between Russia and other countries and the policies to be pursued in the future could create some advantages and cause some disadvantages in the Eastern Mediterranean.”

He added that he will be monitoring developments closely and will be in close contact with Turkish Cypriots residing abroad during his term in office.

Noting that he will work towards strengthening the bonds of Turkish Cypriots living abroad with the TRNC, Taçoy said by considering that they are a part of and ambassadors of the TRNC they will consider what services would be provided for them.
