President Ersin Tatar expressed the hope that the problems between Russia and Ukraine will be resolved through dialogue, not war.

Issuing a message to mark Miraç Kandili which marks Prophet Mohammed’s ascent to heaven, President Tatar touched upon the events that are taking place between Russia and Ukraine.

“The events in Ukraine have shown us once again that the guarantee of Motherland Turkiye and the presence of Turkish soldiers in Cyprus are our only assurance and guarantee” said Tatar.

He said that as the Turkish Cypriot people, the Turkish nation and the Islamic world celebrate Miraç Kandili, they are watching the ongoing war in Ukraine with great concern and sadness.

“As the President of a people who have lived through the deaths, pains and migrations of the war, the events taking place in Ukraine are tearing our hearts apart. The events in Ukraine have shown us once again that the guarantee of Motherland Turkiye and the presence of Turkish soldiers in Cyprus are our only assurance and guarantee. My hope is that the problems between Russia and Ukraine are resolved not by war, but through dialogue. I wish wars will end and peace and tranquillity will prevail all over the world” said President Tatar in his message.
