A forest will be created in memory of the late Birkan Uzun under the auspices of the Office of the President.
The memory of Birkan Uzun, who had become a source of pride and inspiration for the Turkish Cypriot people after opening the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) flag at the peak of several summits as part of his mission to complete the Seven Summits Mission, is being kept alive.
Uzun had saddened the country with his untimely death as a result of a skiing accident on January 1, 2022 just several weeks after waving the TRNC flag on Mount Vinson in Antarctica.
According to the Office of the President, the memorial forest will be planted at an event to be held near Tepebaşı on Thursday, March 3.
President Ersin Tatar is also expected to attend the event where thousands of saplings will be planted in memory of Uzun.
