Ataoğlu unveils government’s plans

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu said that the National Unity Party (UBP)-Democrat Party (DP)-Rebirth Party (YDP) coalition government will be a long-lasting government.

“Our goal is to see through the projects we have started,” Ataoğlu told the TAK news agency in an interview published on Tuesday.

Unveiling the government’s plans for the country, the deputy prime minister said that the initiative launched to change Ercan Airport’s status to that of a Turkish domestic airport was aimed at lowering ticket prices.

He also said that there were plans to bring 100,000 tourists to the country before the end of the year.

Ataoğlu pointed out that an effort was also underway to set up a new airline and that they will be meeting in Antalya, Turkiye next week to discuss the issue.

On issues concerning culture and youth, Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu said it was essential that the theatre hall for the Cyprus Turkish State Theatres be completed as soon as possible.

He pointed out that the TRNC was subject to international embargoes but that areas like art did not recognize any obstacles which was why they will support all sorts of activities as much as they can.
