A delegation from Istanbul’s Bahçeşehir University was recieved separately by President Ersin Tatar and Foreign Minister Hasan Taçoy on Wednesday.

Speaking during the visits, the Rector of Bahçeşehir University Prof. Dr Şirin Karadeniz provided information and activities carried out by the university.

She said that the university was working on a documentary to be aired on July 20, telling the rightful cause of the Turkish Cypriot people.

President Tatar for his part expressed is belief that the Bahçeşehir University will contribute to the rightful cause of both Turkey and the TRNC with the work it carries out.

Nothing that the world was currently going through a critical stage, the president expressed the hope that innocent civilians and children will not be killed and that conflict in Ukraine will end soon.

“As the Turkish Cypriots we suffered a lot and we know what war is. I hope what is necessary will be done to end this conflict,” Tatar said.

“We have been giving a struggle to exist on this island for decades. We respect the other side. Motherland Turkiye has always stood besides us. The Bahçeşehir University’s contributions and its support to our rightful cause has made as proud,” he added.

Also receiving the delegation, Foreign Minister Taçoy stressed that making the past known was one of the most important issues the TRNC should focus on.

Stating that the country should be promoted with its every aspect, he stressed that in addition to advancement of technology, research and development departments of universities should be given importance.

Expressing the hope that cooperation with the Bahçeşehir University will increasingly continue, Taçoy added that they want to give all the support they can for the documentary project.
