İrsen Küçük remembered

Former Prime Minister İrsen Küçük is being remembered today by state and government officials on the 3rd anniversary of his death.

A memorial service was held for the late Küçük on Thursday at his his graveside at the state cemetery in Lefkoşa.

The ceremony was attended by President Ersin Tatar, the Speaker of the TRNC Parliament Zorlu Töre, Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu, the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri, several ministers, MPs and the Küçük family.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Ersin Tatar touched upon the late Küçük’s contributions to the country, particularly during his years serving as Agriculture Minister.

He reminded that foundations of many of the infrastructure projects, including the Water Transfer Project, had been laid during Küçük’s term as prime minister.

“Furthermore he was a great family man, and a person devoted to serving his country. May he rest in peace,” Tatar added.

In a message issued earlier, Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre said that the late İrsen Küçük had dedicated his life to the development of the country in line with national values and in good relations with motherland Turkiye.

He said that Küçük was an important figure in Turkish Cypriot political history.
