Berova and Candan take part in PACE meeting

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) was held in Strasbourg.

National Unity Party MP Özdemir Berova and the Republican Turkish Party MP Armağan Candan who are representing the Republic’s Assembly at the extraordinary meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe shared their views regarding Maraş at the committee meeting.

According to the statement made by the Republic’s Assembly the Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyha also addressed the General Assembly at the PACE extraordinary meeting that was held in Strasbourg on March 14-15, where the ongoing situation between Russia and Ukraine was discussed.

Berova and Candan also attended the PACE Political Affairs and Democracy Committee meeting.

They shared their views in a comprehensive manner with the committee in the session where the Cyprus problem was also discussed within the framework of the report to be prepared on the closed city of Maraş.

During the preparation of the said report, the deputies will continue their consultations with the Italian Rapporteur Piero Fassino and the PACE secretariat in the coming days.

In this context, the Italian Rapporteur will visit Cyprus in the coming weeks and meet with the Turkish Cypriot authorities.

CTP Deputy Armağan Candan also attended the AKPA Socialists, Democrats and Greens Group meeting.

The delegation was accompanied by TRNC Strasbourg Representative Ayda Soylu, Second Secretary Deniz Kalyoncu and Republic Assembly Press and Foreign Relations Officer Görkem Reis.
