President Ersin Tatar visited and expressed loyalty to members of the Turkish Peace Forces Veterans Association in Gazimağusa on the occasion of the anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory.

Within this framework, Tatar visited Turkish Peace Forces war veterans Hayati Alptekin and Ahmet Çam at their homes.

According to the information released by the TRNC Presidency, during the visits the President reminded that the Great Çanakkale Victory was realized under the leadership shown by the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people resisted with the support of Turkiye, Tatar noted that Turkiye who used its right to intervene stemming from 1960 agreements, sent Turkish soldiers to the island to fight against the EOKA attacks.

“You were among those soldiers and on this occasion as the head of the state I wanted to visit you and express our loyalty” he said and underlined the importance of the resistance shown during the Turkish Peace Operation when an uphill struggle had been given.

Expressing his gratefulness to the war veterans, President Tatar commemorated the martyrs once again.
