Tatar visits martyrs’ families

President Ersin Tatar visited the martyrs’ families in the village of Gaziveren on Sunday.

Following the commemoration ceremonies held for Gaziveren and Çamlıköy martyrs, the President visited Adem Alevkayalı – the son of Mehmet Ali Dede who was martyred at Gaziveren on the 19th of March 1964 and then Şerife Oyal – the daughter of Özer Ekrem Emin who was martyr at Peristerona on the 23rd of December 1963.

Speaking during the visit, Tatar noted that the Turkish Cypriot people resisted against the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo’s disproportionate force adding that the resistance fighters of Gaziveren fought bravely in the village of Gaziveren.

Remembering those who were martyred in the Gaziveren resistance with mercy, President Tatar noted that the close relatives of martyrs had suffered a lot adding that the aim of his visit was to express the state’s gratefulness to them.

“These sorrows were felt in order for us to have our own state” he said and added that the struggle waged during the Çanakkale Victory under the leadership of Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk provided inspiration for the Turkish Cypriot people.

“It is our duty to express our loyalty to our martyrs” President Tatar stressed and referred to the significance of the state and sovereignty.
