Çağatay remembered

The first Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mustafa Çağatay was remembered on Sunday on the 33rd anniversary of his death.

President Ersin Tatar, Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu, the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri, the Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Command Major General Sezai Öztürk, the Commander of the Security Forces Command Major General Zorlu Topaloğlu, the Commander of the 28th Division Command Brigadier General Taner Uysal, some ministers, deputies, mayors, political party leaders, representatives of institutions and organizations, his family and loved ones attended the ceremony held at his graveside at Karaoğlanoğlu.

Addressing the ceremony, President Tatar said that Mustafa Çağatay had left a great mark on the country with his patience, honest personality, statesmanship and his services.

He said Çağatay was a great statesman who served at various posts and institutions that finally led to the creation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Pointing out that Çağatay who was one of the architects of the TRNC desired the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people forever; Tatar said they will continue to work to preserve that goal.
