The National Unity Party’s (UBP) Central Executive Board evaluated the latest developments regarding the government’s resignation on Wednesday night.
Issuing a statement after the meeting, Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu emphasized that the government should be urgently formed.
Sucuoğlu said, “I would like to thank my fellow party members. They unanimously decided to support us. Today we will meet with the Party Assembly,” he said.
The prime minister also stated that the president will be meeting with party officials, and might even task someone to form the next government.
Noting that the Party Assembly will convene at 3pm on Thursday, Sucuoğlu said that other parties are leaning towards a broad-based government especially during these times when economic problems are being experienced and added that this option is worth discussing.
“After taking office in the upcoming period, if we come face to face with proper proposals, they will all be discussed,” said Sucuoğlu and stressed that the government should be formed as soon as possible without delay.
“There can be no formula that does not entail the UBP,” said Sucuoğlu and added that the UBP is prepared to take on a new duty during these difficult times.
