The General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) was held in Strasbourg between 25th and 28th of April.
National Unity Party (UBP) MP Özdemir Berova and the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Armağan Candan made up the delegation that attended the meeting on behalf of the Republic’s Assembly.
During the meeting that was held between the 25th and 28th of April in Strasbourg, Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Buric addressed the General Assembly.
Berova and Candan met with the Italian MP Piero Fassino, who was appointed by PACE as the rapporteur that will deal with the closed city of Maraş, and attended the General Assembly and Committee meetings.
During the meeting the details of the visit of the Italian Rapporteur Fassino to Cyprus that will take place in June were discussed.
CTP Deputy Armağan Candan also attended AKPA Socialist, Democrat and Greens Group meeting.
The delegation was accompanied by TRNC Strasbourg Representative Ayda Soylu, Second Secretary Deniz Kalyoncu and Republic Assembly’s Press, Foreign Relations and Protocol Director Yasa Yeşilada.
The delegation is expected to return to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on Friday.
