Health Minister Ali Pilli on Friday met with a delegation of experts from the Turkish Health Services General Directorate who are in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to update and renew the cooperation protocol signed between the two countries in the field of health.

Speaking during the visit, the Minister of Health Ali Pilli expressed his gratitude to motherland Turkiye which he pointed out supported the Turkish Cypriot people in all fields.

“Most recently the Republic of Turkiye spared no effort or means in supporting the Turkish Cypriot people during the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

He reminded that Türkiye had constructed an emergency hospital which had contributed to the successful management of the pandemic.

Pointing out that the public health system was currently experiencing shortages and shortfalls, Pilli said that important strides could be achieved with the construction of a new 500-bed capacity public hospital in Lefkoşa, the completion of the public hospital in Girne, the construction of a new hospital in Güzelyurt and the completion of the AMATEM (Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts) building.

The health minister also expressed his belief that cooperation will continue between the two countries.
