The first sea bus service between Hatay and Girne was realized on Thursday May the 19th.
Mutual sea bus services between Hatay and Girne will take place twice a week during the first phase but the number of voyages can be increased to 3 times a week depending on the need and demand.
The passengers of the very first voyage were Hatay Büyükeşehir Mayor Lütfü Savaş, some Hatay deputies, mayors, city council members, mukhtars, Cyprus veterans from Turkiye, business people, the Hatay Chorus of Civilizations and members of the press.
The Mayor of Girne Nidai Güngördü, members of the City Council and employees welcomed the Sinan Pasha Sea bus at the Girne Tourism Port with flowers.
Speaking upon arrival the Hatay Mayor Lütfü Savaş stated that an alternative to airlines had been created for touristic, commercial and educational purposes and said that during the first phase services would be available twice a week but that this could change in accordance with demands.
Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü also noted that the sea bus services between Hatay and Girne were a good start and expressed belief that these services will further strengthen the existing ties between the two cities and their people.
