Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu attended the season opening of the Karpaz and Karşıyaka Sea Turtles Project on Sunday.

Minister Ataoğlu also delivered a speech at the event which was held at the Taşkent Nature Park.

He said the Protection of Sea Turtles Project which is being carried out by the Cyprus Marine Life Centre operating under the Taşkent Nature Park was on the one hand focusing on the study and protection of precious marine species and unfolding the country’s ecotourism potential on the other.

Touching upon the importance of the monitoring and protection work for the Karpaz Peninsula Sea Turtles which will be carried out with the participation of tens of international volunteers for a better understanding of biological diversity of the TRNC, Ataoğlu said the work to be carried out will increase the international recognition of the country and the region.
