Kaleburnu Village Festival

The village of Kaleburnu located in the Karpaz Peninsula held its first village festival on Sunday.

State and government officials showed great interest to the event which was organized jointly by the Fight Against Addiction Association and Media House with the aim of drawing attention to fight against addiction and Alzheimer’s disease.

Addressing the event, Health Minister İzlem Gürçağ Altuğra touched upon the importance of protecting the country’s cultural values and handing them down to future generations.

The Minister of Labour and Social Security Hasan Taçoy for his part highlighted the importance of raising awareness on Alzheimer’s disease.

Also addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu referred to the cultural richness of the Kaleburnu Village and said all artifacts excavated from the Kral Tepesi (King’s Hill) should be displayed at a museum to be opened in the area.

The Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre for his part praised the Kaleburnu Village for its productivity.

President Ersin Tatar who also attended and addressed the event noted that it was not easy to establish a state.

He added that the locals of Kaleburnu Village had waged a great struggle for the establishment of the TRNC.

Tatar also stressed that they will continue to work towards further developing the economy, tourism and agriculture in the country.
