Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said on Monday that the aim of his visit to the Turkish capital Ankara was to ensure the welfare and prosperity of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Evaluating his contacts to BRT, Üstel said that once again the Republic of Turkiye had promised its unwavering and full support to the TRNC and its people.
“For that we are eternally grateful,” he said, adding that Ankara will be doing all it can for the prosperity of the TRNC and its citizens.
Üstel said that nevertheless, the TRNC will need to solve its own problems which can only be possible through fiscal discipline, reforms and restructuring sectors that lack efficiency.
The prime minister also criticized those creating false agendas in the country.
He said that the opposition was unfortunately supporting various smearing campaigns being waged against the government.
Üstel called on the opposition to abandon its current stance and to join the government in addressing the country’s outstanding problems.
“We have done our homework before our visit to Ankara. We are determined to take strong steps. We have the full support of the National Unity Party (UBP) and are working in full harmony with our coalition partners, the Rebirth Party (YDP) and the Democrat Party (DP). Our only concern is the future, production and development. We shall pursue what is best for our people to the very end,” he said.
