President Ersin Tatar drew attention to the importance of a stronger Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for the Republic of Türkiye, which is the most powerful country in the region, and said, “We will continue to protect our rights and law in the Eastern Mediterranean under all circumstances.”

The president made the statement while receiving the Balıkesir Sındırgı Mayor Ekrem Yavaş and his accompanying delegation made up of Cyprus veterans.

President Ersin Tatar received the visiting Mayor from Türkiye and his accompanying delegation at the presidential palace.

Speaking during the visit, Tatar reminded that Turkish Cypriots regained their independence with Türkiye’s rightful intervention in 1974 and with the Mehmetçik soldiers landing on the island.

Drawing attention to the importance of further strengthening the TRNC, President Tatar underlined the necessity of protecting the rights and interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.

President Tatar also referred to the importance of maintaining the ancient ties between Türkiye and the Turkish Cypriot people.
